The Steps Minds Eye Web Design Takes When Creating a Website
At Minds Eye Web Design, we know what it takes to build a search-engine-friendly website for you or your company. We'll guide you through the process, explaining technical issues in everyday English. Here are the basic steps involved in building your company's website.
Free Consultation:
It’s important to include you as much as possible during the creation of your new website, because your site will be designed to portray you, your ideas and your business. Things we’ll discuss during a consultation may include
- Your current site, if you have one
- Other websites you like
- Colors you want to incorporate
- Any special requests
We’ll help you develop an online strategy for your company in person, over the phone or through e-mail. If desired, we’ll discuss a written plan for exactly how we’ll build your website and outline each portion of the site, describe the navigation and layout and set a schedule for performing the work. We’ll also go over a client agreement to outline what our services will include and give you a reasonable timeline for completing your website.
Set-up:

Mock-ups:
Mock-ups are non-functioning graphical representations of how your site will look when completed. We’ll design up to three mock-ups for your website based on your input, although we generally try to get it right the first time. From the beginning we consider browser compatibility, download times, usability and other technical issues so you won't have to worry about them when the design is implemented. Then you simply choose the mock-up you like best and tell us if anything needs to be changed. Usually we go through several rounds of revisions with mock-ups. We aren't satisfied with the design until you are.
Implementing Design:
We’ll work with your text and graphics and feed them into the design of the website. We make sure that the graphics flow is streamlined and that the text is formatted appropriately to the design of your site. When we have your content and graphics, we’ll build the site using XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and various other web development tools and languages. We focus on search engine friendliness when coding, and we use tableless website design methods.
Launch:
When the website is designed and you’re satisfied with the finished product, we launch the site. We can teach someone at your company how to maintain some or all of the site using our custom content management system, or we can maintain it for you with easy monthly billing for maintenance services.
Note: We use Dreamweaver CS3 to create websites. It is strongly recommended that if you plan to have somebody else maintain it that they have Dreamweaver 8 or a newer version.
